Departmental Roads
The Val-de-Marne is a crossroads located at the gates of Paris

Due to its proximity to the Capital, the Val-de-Marne is served by numerous roads and highways. As an added feature, highway access is free within the Val-de-Marne.

The Val-de-Marne highways:
LEGAL DRIVING AGE
18 years old. Every driver must have a driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
SPEED LIMITS
130 km/hr on the highway, 90 km/hr on open roads and 50 km/hr in cities.
PRIORITY
Driving on the right hand side of the road with priority to the right and passing on the left.
SEATBELT
Must be worn both in the front and back seats. Baby seats and children’s seats are also required.
MOTORCYCLES/SCOOTERS
Helmet required for both front and back seats. License required for vehicles over 125 cm3.
parking ON THE STREET
Metered parking from Monday to Saturday – 9:00 am to 7:00 pm (depends upon the town). Meters are coin operated. Free parking on Sundays and holidays. There are also “blue zones” with limited parking where the driver must have a parking disc clearly visible.
PARKING LOTS
They are indicated by a blue sign with a white “P”. Daily, weekly and monthly payments are possible.
